General Info
The Crescent City Lights Youth Theater summer theater program is an intensive program with rehearsals held on Monday through Friday and often on Saturday. The program is between 5 to 7 weeks long depending upon the rehearsal and performance schedule which has to be arranged around the schedule of Gallier Hall special events.
Entry to the program requires the completion of an audition application in full by the deadline date.  Auditions will be scheduled once applications are in.  The audition is a group audition where each young performer is taught a song and dance to learn on the spot.  The children read excerpts from one of the scripts to be performed that summer.  No prepared material is necessary.  Just enthusiasm!
CCLYT staff look for children who have lots of interest in performing. Experience is not necessary.
The application will have the complete calendar of rehearsals and performances. Cast members are only allowed to miss three rehearsals.  No allowance is made for vacations.
Please know in advance that this program is for children who are seriously interested in performing on stage. The desire has to come from the child him/herself.
The program requires ALL parents to commit to assist with fundraising efforts to raise program expenses thereby keeping program cost low.  Parents also are required to volunteer in a variety of ways with the public performances.
Program Cost:  $10 Audition Fee and $335 Tuition Fee (2014 costs) per child (no discount for siblings).  This amount breaks down to less than $3 an hour for the amount of time the children spend in rehearsals and performing.  Need based scholarships are available for families with significant financial need.  A need based scholarship application will be posted along with the application and the scholarship must be applied for at the same time as the audition application.
CCLYT strives to keep parents well-informed throughout the rehearsals and performances.  Our staff works hard to give your child an unforgettable and life-changing summer experience!
